DESTINATIONS
AMERICA
Although not a requirement, It is recommended that all pets travelling are microchipped according to ISO standards. No Rabies Titre Test is required, but a full Health Certificate needs to travel with your pet. Your pet must arrive in the States no more than 5 days before or after you and must be collected by a US resident residing at a bona fide US address. Puppies travel only from 6 months of age. The USA does not ban breeds but some cities do. Its best to contact your place of destination to determine what is banned within that area. Contact Jet Pet for any information you may require.
AUSTRALIA
Dogs and cats coming to Australia from group 3 countries must be accompanied by a valid import permit, which provides the conditions for importing the dog. The conditions on the import permit take precedence over any other source of information. Dogs must comply with all conditions on the import permit. Failure to comply with the conditions on the import permit may result in the dog being (at your cost): held longer in post entry quarantine subject to additional testing exported euthanased. On arrival in Australia dogs must spend a minimum of 10 days at the Mickleham post entry quarantine facility. A government approved veterinarian or official government veterinarian must perform all veterinary procedures. All testing must be done in an approved country in a laboratory recognized by the government of the country of export. The department cannot give advice on treatments for diseases. Seek advice from a veterinarian if your dog tests positive to an infectious disease listed in the import conditions.
CANADA
There will be no quarantine imposed on your pet when entering Canada as long as the following requirements are met. Unless otherwise stated, the regulations below apply to domestic dogs, cats and ferrets including service and emotional support dogs and cats. Your dog or cat will need either proof of current rabies vaccination (EU Pet Passport is accepted) OR a health certificate in English or French and completed by a licensed veterinarian. A valid rabies vaccination certificate issued, in either English or French, by a licensed veterinarian from the country of origin. (EU Pet Passport is accepted.) There is no waiting period after the vaccination is administered. Canada does recognize the three year rabies vaccination. Please note that if a validity date does not appear on the certificate, then it will be considered a one year vaccine. Dogs and cats entering Canada that are over 3 months of age will need a rabies certificate. Due to the problems with puppy mills and the movement of puppies, Canada is very sensitive to dogs entering the country under eight (8) months of age and will assume that, if you, as the owner of your dog, are not traveling with your dog or its papers are not in your name, it will most likely be considered a commercial shipment by customs and be subject to a microchip, health certificate issued within 48 hours of entry, and possibly an import permit** from the local CFIA office. EUROPE
To import your dog, cat or ferret to any European Union country, it must be microchipped first. No vaccinations that are given before the microchip count. Even if your pet's current rabies vaccination has not expired, it still must be re-vaccinated for rabies after the microchip is implanted. The next step depends on which country you are entering the EU from. If it is a high-rabies country, then you must wait for a minimum 30 days after the rabies vaccination (do not count the day of veterinary visit) before getting your dog, cat or ferret a rabies titer test. The sample must be sent overnight in a refrigerated blood pack to an approved laboratory for processing. Assuming your pet's antibody levels are at least 0.5 IU/ml, then your pet can enter the EU without quarantine 3 calendar months after the day the blood was taken for the test. If your pet is entering the EU from any other country, it will not need the titer test. It can enter the EU after waiting at least 21 days after the rabies vaccination is administered. f your dog is traveling to the UK, Ireland, Norway, Finland Malta, it will need a tapeworm treatment administered by a licensed veterinarian between one and five days of entering those countries. This assumes that it is not entering any of these countries directly from another country listed here. (Entering the UK from Ireland, or entering Finland from Norway) In these cases, the tapeworm treatment is not required.
NEW ZEALAND
Travelling to NZ requires that your pet is microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 15 digit microchip. Your pet needs to have resided in a rabies controlled country for at least 6 months before travelling and if the first injection rabies or booster has expired, the dog has to be injected no more than 6 months and no less than 12 months before travel. Many other tests, including a Rabies Titre Test, Leptospirosis, Heartworm, Brucella Canis and external and internal parasite treatments need to be carried out - a full list is available on request to us.
PANAMA
Panama does not require that your pet be identified with a pet microchip, but it is recommended that you microchip your pet with a 15 digit ISO 11784 compliant microchip and register your contact information prior to traveling as a means of identification should your pet be lost or separated from you. Your dog or cat will need proof of current rabies vaccination prior to entry. Dogs and cats must not be vaccinated for rabies before 3 months of age. Dogs should be vaccinated against Distemper, Hapatitis, Leptospirosis and Parvovirus. Cats should be vaccinated against Viral Rinotraqueitis, Calcivirus and Panleucopenia.
United Kingdom
You can enter or return to the UK with your pet cat, dog or ferret if it. has been microchipped has a pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate has been vaccinated against rabies - it will also need a blood test if you're travelling from an 'unlisted country' Dogs must also usually have a tapeworm treatment. Your pet may be put into quarantine for up to 4 months if you do not follow these rules - or refused entry if you travelled by sea. You're responsible for any fees or charges. You must follow extra rules if the animals will be: sold in the UK from outside the EU or inside the EU rehomed in the UK from inside or outside the EU Your pet must arrive in the UK no more than 5 days before or after you, or you'll have to follow different rules. You must use an approved transport company and route unless you're travelling between the UK and Ireland. Before you travel Check if the company you're travelling with: will accept your pet for travel - and how many they'll accept if you have more than one needs any proof that your pet is fit and healthy to travel, for example a letter from a vet or certain information in your pet passport
